Real estate agent Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to sell a house to the mysterious Count Dracula. Soon, his birthplace Wismar is struck by the plague. The man understands that he brought a calamity onto his town, while the Count is more interested not in the dilapidated house but in Harker’s wife. Werner Herzog follows in the footsteps of his predecessor, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau and Bram Stoker, the author of the novel Dracula, but gives the story a new spin and provides the viewers with a hope for a different ending. Nosferatu the Vampyre is still considered the best horror film ever made on 35 mm film.
