At the Kingdom Hospital in Copenhagen, everything is as it was – and nothing is. Consultant neurosurgeon Stig Helmer faces prosecution for his unsuccessful operation. Mrs. Drusse is mortally wounded by an ambulance, and sets off on her journey into the unknown. In the meantime, Judith’s baby, Little Brother, is growing at amazing pace and fighting for his life.

Lars von Trier

Lars von Trier (b. 1956) graduated from the National Film School of Denmark, 1983. In a few years von Trier became an internationally acclaimed auteur director of feature films. He is the co-founder of the Danish production company Zentropa as well as one of the founders of the Danish Dogme movement in the 1990s. Lars von Trier’s films have won prizes worldwide and in Cannes, including the Palme d’Or and Best Actress Award for Dancer in the Dark, the Grand Prix du Jury for Breaking the Waves and the Best Actress award for Charlotte Gainsbourg’s performance in Antichrist. Scanorama showed director’s films Breaking the Waves, Idiots, Dogville, The Five Obstructions, Manderlay, Antichrist and Melancholia.
