To escape the civil war in Sri Lanka, a former soldier, a young woman and a little girl pose as a family. They end up settling in a housing project outside Paris. They barely know one another, but try to build a life together.

Jacques Audiard

Jacques Audiard was born in Paris, in 1952. He studied Literature and Philosophy at the Sorbonne. In the eighties he wrote the screenplays of several successful thrillers. In 1994, he made his first feature See How They Fall, which won three Césars. His second movie A Self-Made Hero premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996 where it won the award for Best Screenplay and made his name internationally. In 2009, his film A Prophet won 9 César Awards. Award-winning film Rust and Bone (2012) was also screened in Scanorama.
