Kiia and Lauri are speeding down a dark country road, anxious to reach the hospital because Kiia has gone into premature labour. Their car hits something. Lauri goes to take a look, and tells his wife he saw nothing. They rush to the hospital, and Kiia gives birth to a healthy baby boy. While in the hospital, Kiia meets Hanna, a woman whose husband is a victim of a hit-and-run driver.

Petri Kotwica

Petri Kotwica, born in 1964, is an award-winning Finnish film director and screenwriter. He studied Philosophy, Literature and Theatre Directing at the University of Helsinki. He then graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki in Film Directing. His first feature Homesick (2005) was lauded at numerous international festivals. His second feature Black Ice premiered in Berlinale 2008 in competition, was a box-office hit in Finland, won six national film awards and has been screened at more than 50 film festivals, including Scanorama. Rat King (2012) had its international premiere at Tribeca in 2012. Absolution is his fourth feature.
